Hello,
It has been some time since I last wrote!! Two years to be exact, where did the time go, had planned to write once a week, and then for whatever reason, I failed to do so!! I hope to be more
diligent in getting my thoughts, events, etc written every week. Hope all fellow bloggers have been doing well.
I guess the first thing to write about is family, it has increased by one, a great grandson, named
Henry. I suppose that he was named after my Dad, so that would be his great great grandfather. My
Dad would be pleased. Another granddaughter has graduated from High school, and is in her first
year of college. She is doing well. I miss her!!!!! The older sister is now a junior in college, and is
not home except at Christmas and a couple of weeks in the summer. So I am sure that the home
place is rather quiet with just one granddaughter left at home. She will be sweet sixteen next month.
If you remember last I wrote, the Garden club wanted me to become their president. I had said
no, but I ended up being president anyway, as no one else stepped up to the plate. I have found I do
a rather nice job of it, and I enjoy it too. I am starting my second year, and have planned most of the
year and hope to have another successful year. I have lots of eager members and ones that help with
various tasks, so it is enjoyable and not all work and no play. We are going to a Flower show in March,
which we enjoyed last year. I know the way the different areas now, so won't waste any time, but
head right to the plants!! There were so many nice ones to see and buy. Lots of succulents which I
really have grown to love!! We are also beginning to start plants to sell for our own Plant Sale in
May. We were very successful with the last one. I will tell more activities laster. :-)
I went to Florida last summer to visit my Grandson and his family. Had fun and enjoyed my
visit. Hopefully will go again before the Great Grandson is too old to play with his Grandmother!!
He beat me playing different card games, will have to practice them before going again!! ha
Sad to say, my brother who was very ill, passed away last month! My brother, and two sisters
made it back to Oklahoma in time to say our good byes before he passed. I think he was pleased that we came. I think he was waiting on us. Buried him on Tate Mountain with his Mom and Dad and
several other relatives. I had just been home hours, when my husband's Mom died. Hopefully that
will be the last, for a good long while!!!
On a happier note, went to a friends birthday celebration today. It was at a Chinese restaurant.
Good food and nice people, it was fun to be there. She is a fellow Bingo player and she turned
70 today. Need to have more of these type of things!! My friend is going to Cancun in a week, she
really needs the warmth of the Island. She has Asthma and C. O. P. D. She is on oxogen all the
time. We have had rain the last few days, and cold weather along with it, that is not good for her
even if we do need it!! Well, that's it for this time. Until next time, take care. Antique Rose

Hello
Well, it has been ages since I last wrote on this blog. I guess I have been too busy, not in the mood, etc. August came and went with my husband and I celebrating our 52nd anniversary. It seems like just a few years has gone by, but I know that is not the case, some of the grands are making me a great grand mother!! The next one is in February. A boy this time. For the most part, we have been blessed with good health, and all of our children, and grand children and greats are in good health!! That is the most important thing of all!! Each day is a gift, and when I go do my volunteering at the senior center, we all joke about any day we wake up is a good day!!!
This year brought the need for a new roof, a new refrigerator and some car repair!!! Could have been worse, and we are happy that we had the money to do it all. Lately with the winter rains, we are comfy and warm!! Nice not to have to worry if there is a leak!!
I am behind with the Christmas decorations, etc. Just haven't been in the mood, do have a few things out, and I did some cookie baking today, seems like time just whizzes by!!!! Another birthday tomorrow(hubby) and my daughters this coming Thursday. We went out to dinner last night to celebrate hers. Yum!! Granddaughter came home from college, so we will be together once again for the Christmas get together.
I have friends in several different clubs, which keeps me hopping. The antique club luncheon was last week as well as the Garden club and the Bingo gals!!! I am wanted for the president office in our Garden club, but I said no, just don't have the time it will involve. Perhaps if it were the only one I belonged to. Well, I will write more often, so until next time. Merry christmas to all, and a very Happy New Year. Antique Rose

Happenings
Wow!! Can't believe that a month has gone by since I last wrote!!! That is one thing that goes quickly "time"!!!!! Hope all is going well with all my friends. It has been a busy month. We had a new roof put on, and let me tell you, I am still dusting knick/knacks!!!! I found out how many of them I had!! Yikes what a job!!! I think I am going to collect something different, like Levi jackets, purses, or jewelry. Those don't have to be dusted!! :-) Not to say I won't find something else, but it is a thought. I can tell you for a fact roof prices have tripled!!!!
I have been having some rash problems with my medications, thought it was an oral one, but I stopped taking all of them, and just gave myself insulin, and still broke out, so I am thinking it is that now!!! I have an appointment in a few days, I will discuss this with my doctor among other things. We shall see. I am tired of itching and looking like a speckled old hen!!!!
I went on a trip to Salt Lake City with my Daughter and Granddaughters, which was fun. We had triple digit weather, but managed to have fun anyway. We were visiting another Granddaughter going to the U. of Utah. We saw the Zoo, Heritage Village, and the Capital among other trips to stores where we shopped!!! I got some goodies, had some laughs and itched!! ha I put sunscreen on that I was allergic too as well, which contributed to the problem of itching, live and learn, guess I will have to wear hats and long sleeves, if I can't have the sunscreen!! Oh, the woes of old age!! But I am back and going to the center to volunteer, they missed me when I was gone. They groaned to learn I was to cut back to three days a week, now only go Mon, Weds, and Fri. But they will just have to get used to it. After eight years of five days a week, was ready for a change, although I felt bad for my fellow volunteers, some of which cannot do the heavy stuff like me!!!!
Oh, yes, we have a neighbor enlarging their home, and the noise level is really bad, they probably won't finish for another couple of months, it has been three already, did I mention that means more dust!! :[( Well enough bitching, life goes on. Antique Rose

MUSINGS OF LATE
Well, as I have been rather busy of late, haven't posted for awhile. Did you miss me?? :-) I am still going to the senior center everyday, although, recently I have decided after I go on a trip in July, I will only go in three per week. I have not been giving my garden enough time, nor my house!!!!! I truly enjoy going everyday, and seeing my friends, but guess they will understand!! I still will be there for bingo, garden meetings, trips, etc .
We had a visitor for twelve days, my grandson from Florida was here to cover the US Open. He put in long hours, but we managed to visit in bits and pieces. Just so happen to have unusual cold weather while he was here, and he caught a head cold!!! We were happy to see him, as it had been almost two years since our last visit. Perhaps the next time, we can see his wife and our great grandson!!!
Also, we got to see our granddaughter home from college. Nice visit a well, all too quick, and she is now back for summer classes!!! It is always a crazy, loud, and fun day when they come visit! Next, we are going to go(all ladies) to Salt Lake City and have a week of fun there!!
No men allowed!! :-) Stay tuned, stores here we come!!! Am looking forward to the adventure!
The hunt is fun, and a bonus if we find something we can't live without!!! Speaking of which, a couple of weeks ago, got three or four jackets at various Discovery shops. What fun, they are really neat!!! Then this past weekend, found 3 more jackets for a bargain price!!! Woot, Woot!!
For some reason, that is what I look for, well that and earrings. Used to be knick/knacks. Oh, well a change is good they say!!!!!
Yesterday I made two batches of Apricot jam. Yum, love that kind!!! A friend's tree was so loaded it's limb broke. He thought of me and thus the jam. I will give her a jar tomorrow!!!!
Well, what have you been doing? Antique Rose

It's been a while since I have written. Time just seems to fly by!!! I have had another birthday. It was a wonderful week of cards, flowers and hearing from all my chicks!!! Then Mother's Day was here, and more cards and love from my chicks as well as my husband. It usually is quite nice weather wise by now, but we have had some unusual weather with late rains, cool weather . It was nice this weekend except for a cold wind. I had some really pretty peonies, but the late rains really did them in!!! My lilacs weathered pretty well, and I had more on my young plants than last year. The climbing roses were really pretty with lots of pale pink roses, more than I have ever had, so happy about that!!!! Only thing wrong with those, they bloom but once a year!! I worked in the garden for several hours today. Planting some plants that I purchased at our Garden club plant sale. I hope they grow good, you never know, some things do better than others. Got some new plants that are suppose to have pink flowers, we will see.
We had our volunteer BBQ and guess what!! I had the most volunteer hours of anyone since they opened the center!!!!!!! Got a nice plant, got to sign the big check, and also a great luncheon. I have met many nice people, and still enjoy the work, even though I probably spend too much time there!!! Have neglected some of the chores of the house and garden. Since we were closed today, got busy !!! Always feel a sense of accomplishment when I work in the garden. Do you? I am sure I will feel the affects of it tomorrow. :-) Yesterday got to spend the day with my daughter and granddaughters. It was fun, an antique faire in a town nearby. Found a few treasures, and some for the grands. It will be here again in October. We look forward to that. Well, of course it is Memorial Day, and I thought about men in my life who have served and are serving. Glad for the freedom that we have because of those men and women. Just wish we didn't have to have any more wars, and loss of life!!!!!!!! Until next time~~~~Antique Rose

Spring is here.
Hello, long time since I wrote, time seems to slip away! Since I last wrote, I have had another Antique club meeting. The theme was St. Paddy's day. It was quite festive and as usual the food just wonderful!! The ladies seem to out do themselves every time. :-) Had a garden club meeting also, and we are going to visit a local garden called Fioli Gardens. It's sold out, so we have a full bus. They say the Gardens will be in full bloom with spring flowers. Should be fun, bringing my camera so I can give the pictures to our club. That will be in April. Glad it isn't this week, as it has been cold and rainy!! The Senior Center where I volunteer, is giving the volunteers a BBQ luncheon. That should be fun, suppose to dress like cowgirls and boys if we like. Wonder how many will do this. I wear pants most of the time, so guess I could add a few things to look like a cowgirl. We will see. My sweet hubby took me to my favorite store to for vintage treasures, didn't find anything this time, but the hunt was fun!! Half the fun is looking. :-) Then today was the open house for a local store that I love. Needless to say, found a few treasures there!!! Hey, with 10% off , had to get something didn't I?? It was the Spring thing, with lots of chicks, rabbits, etc as Easter is coming up. My friend just came back from a trip to China, she had been gone almost three months, I was happy to have her around again!! This month was also a birthday month for my granddaughter, and we had a family party. Always fun and food was quite yummy!! She wanted a Taco bar, with all the trimmings. And a special cake, which of course was quite decadent!!!!!!!! So much for my blood sugar count the next day, although it wasn't as high as I thought it would be!!! Good for me. :-) I spent a couple of hours going through some Children's books to give to a friend who teaches third grade. I hope that she enjoys them as much as I have. No small children around these days to read them too, so wanted someone to have them that would appreciate them like I have. I think that about brings me up to date(left out any bad stuff, or ordinary things). :=) Antique Rose

Happenings of late
Had a lovely Antique meeting last Tuesday, the food was great, and the decorations funny and pretty as well. It was our club's 48th birthday and two of the original members still attend!!! We had a variety of salads and deviled eggs, plus rolls . I enjoyed the company of the ladies of the club. We have a really good group!! Oh, yes and a lovely birthday cake, yum!! Had a very busy week at the senior center!!! I was happy to see the weekend, the crab feed was Friday night as well, and low and behold I won one of the baskets!!! Yippee!!! Filled with writing supplies, candy, and a book written by the members of the creative writing club!!! I know some of the members and I loved reading their poems and stories. There were other items and I will enjoy using them. We had a sad occasion today. My husband's Aunt Anne died last week and her memorial was today. She will be missed. Sad that we only get together on such occasions. Used to be at weddings, now we are all getting older, I am afraid it will be just goodbyes! It was nice seeing all the relatives that we don't see often. Perhaps there will be a another family get together like we had a few years ago. That was fun. Well, tomorrow is another holiday. Thanks to all our men of service. Thanks to all living and gone, but not forgotten!! Antique Rose

Getting back in the groove.
Well, we've had some beautiful days lately. Not too cold and not too warm, but we need lots more rain!!! We've had a couple of rainy days, but I do not want to have a drought, so hopefully there will be a lot more before the rainy season ends. Which will be here before you can turn around, the days seem to go more quickly every year!! I have been volunteering more and more, but there is always more to do!!! I am walking again, thank goodness, it was hard after not walking my normal amount for some time!!! I did not feel comfortable in my jeans, so that will help take care of that problem!!!! My mother in law just celebrated her 94Th, and my youngest son, his 49Th!!!! Soon there will be other birthdays, how could everyone around me be getting old, for the most part, I do not feel old, but I know there is an older woman looking back at me in the mirror!!!! Recently went to see my granddaughter play her violin in a concert. We enjoyed it very much, and then had dinner out with daughter and family, their treat!!! Had dinner for the son, grandson, and granddaughter last evening, life goes on. My hubby surprised me with a new camera(red) for Valentine's Day, and as usual gave it to me before the "day". :-)
I used it for the first time on my walk, it has a longer zoom, so should be able to take more of my animals without having to be too close. Soon the new ducklings will be out, and I hope to get great pictures!!!! Having my Antique club meeting next week, and I am one of the hostesses, a birthday/valentine theme. Should be fun and food tasty!!Until next time~~~Antique Rose

Happy New Year
Hello,
It has been some time since I wrote on this blog, but I just didn't feel like it. I guess everyone gets writer's block at times, seems mine lasted way too long!!
Had a nice Thanksgiving, seems like the time went so quickly it was Christmas!! I did get my decorations out, but ever so slowly!!! Perhaps this year I will begin in November and be ready!!!
Went to our daughters house for Christmas, it was a noisy, happy time. Granddaughter was home from College, which was nice. Our grandson recently out of the service was there as well. I heard from most of my chicks around the country, so that made it special. I hope to check in more often this new year. Hoping all blogging friends had a nice Christmas. Did you get that special something you wanted? I had a surprise from hubby, a beautiful ring. He got golf stuff. I hope he gets to play for many more years!!
A sad note, one of my friends died just before Christmas. She was one classy lady, and will be missed. Till next time. Antique Rose

Happy Fall Everyone
Hi Everyone, haven't been on for awhile. Busy with trips, and going here and there. Time just gets away from me!! It's that time of the year, boutiques, open houses, and fall holidays. Can't believe that it is almost Halloween!! We don't have many trick or treaters as schools, churches, and malls have things for the young people and most of the little ones go there. I miss the little ones in their cute costumes. Bought candy just in case, but likely will be stuck with most of it, but as always, get the good stuff, so we can munch occasionally!
Will go to a jewelry party this coming Saturday. That should be fun! The fall/winter catalog is out. This is at my daughter's home, so will see the grands too!! Last week my husband and I went to Yosemite. My first time, second for my hubby. It was a nice trip, and although I enjoyed seeing the park, I enjoyed our side trips to small towns even more!! Got to look for treasures, found a few of course!! Till next time, Antique Rose

Trips
Our trip to the Botanical Gardens was really nice. The grounds were divided into sections from different parts of the globe. We went to most of them in the time that we were allowed and the docent took us too. It had been predicted that it would rain heavy all day, so we the hardy, prepared, wore our coats and brought umbrellas. But the gods were with us, and we only had a few sprinkles and had a wonderful day of walking, talking, laughing and lunch together on the grounds. We had a wonderful bus driver, who drove so smoothly, we forgot that we were on the freeways!!! Not one miscue and we arrived and left at the appointed times. I hope to go back someday in the spring when things are in bloom.
Tomorrow our Antique Club is going on a trip. That should be fun as well. It rained today, so am hoping it is a clear day tomorrow. We will be inside for the most part, but these ladies are older and hopefully there will be no falls because of rainy streets!!! Stay tuned, treasures are out there to be found!!! Antique Rose

Life
Last weekend I spent Saturday with friends and family of a dear friend. She passed away on Sept 12Th. I will miss her mischievous blue eyes and wicked humor!!! She put on an act that she was one tough lady, but those who knew her, know that she was a softie!!! She is now looking down on us and smiling, no longer in any pain, and I am sure cracking a few jokes with the man on high!!! Another friend and I had been going to see her and she knew we cared and we did our best to make her days happier.
I am proud to say I have been good and walking Monday through Friday like a good ole gal. :=) I take the weekends off and don't feel one bit guilty!!! I still go to the senior center and put several hours in each day, after said walk. I have made so many friends there, it is actually fun, not work!!! With bingo thrown in a couple times twice a month, it keeps a lady busy. Not to say I don't do other things. I have cut back on buying so much, at the various thrift, collectible and antique places. Not a bit of room left to fill, so am in process of eliminating and clearing out some of the stuff I have!!! I like so many different things, it is hard to decide which to keep and which to get rid of. :-( But I am working on it.I have given the bingo gals stuff to use for prizes, so that is good, still have more to go!! Must get some of this done before the rainy season, as boxes sit on the patio.
On Sunday, my husband and I went to our son's house and had a lovely dinner. He is a good cook, and even made apple pie for dessert!! Yum, yum!! We will go there for Thanksgiving this year. That will give my daughter a rest as she usually has it at her house. Of course we will bring food as well. There will be one less at the Thanksgiving table, as the elder daughter of said daughter has gone off to college.
My son recently moved to Santa Cruz, where he loves it, even though he has a long commute now. He has less allergies there, plus has always loved the ocean!!!! His son that just got out of the service is living there as well as his daughter. He said he felt "joy" having them with him, so we are doubly happy for him!! Having a great girlfriend is good too! :-)
This month was my father's birthday, he would have been 99 and I have no doubt that he would have lived to 100 if my Mom had not got sick and he had to be separated from her!! They had been married for 72 years, and were like two peas in a pod, not having been a part before her illness. My husband and I have a few years to reach that long, but did celebrate our 51St this year~!!!And they said it wouldn't last!!!!!! Hopefully he will be playing golf for some years to come!!!!
I have a trip coming up with the Garden Club, then the following week a trip with the Antique Club. Both should be fun and with different friends. What have you been doing lately?
Hope all are well and happy. Antique Rose

I'm Back. Time flies
Hello, I can't believe that it has been so long since I wrote in this blog!!! I guess I have been busy!! Walking at the lake, volunteering at the senior center, etc. Had my grandson here three weeks while he was waiting to move to another town, he just got out of the army(six years), and we enjoyed his company! Anniversaries, just had my 51st in August, yes guess that means I am getting old! Summer get togethers, birthdays, wow the list goes on. I think I am back in the groove now, and will post weekly at least. At my age I forget some things if not written as they happen. My oldest granddaughter of my daughter has gone away to college, the next one is a junior in high school, it seems like they are all getting grown up at once!! Had a lovely dinner with daughter and family last evening and then to a jewelry party.Had fun, food was great, and best of all a good visit with my loves. Life is good. Antique Rose

This week's events.
Hello, I have been very busy these past few days. Our son is moving, and we are cat sitting for a while, until he re locates. It took a bit getting used too her and visa versa. My Antique meeting/luncheon was good, and although it was my turn to just attend the meeting, I ended up doing the same as the past four years. The gal who was to start doing that job had jury duty, so once more I was it!! It all turned out quite nice, so I was glad for that. I took a day off of going to the senior center to give my grand daughters a lesson in pie crust/pie making. You can see the results in the above picture. They had fun doing the various steps, and loved it even more when they got to have a serving of the results!! "Ma" this is soooooo good when you get to eat the pie when it is warm!!!! Usually they get to eat it the next day. They liked it warm best. :-) My friend and I also took another friend out to lunch. She is now in a care home, and loves to get out once in a while, and we like getting to see her as well. So it was a good week. The weather has been a bit on the cool side, but we expect more hot weather next week. The summer is quickly passing by! Antique Rose

Busy Time
I have been a busy lady the past few days. I had two of my granddaughters over for five days. It was fun, we were so busy with talking, going to the senior center, as well as walking at the lake. My friend at the center showed them how to make swans out of apples, and they got to take the finished product home. It was very pretty, and they were impressed with the beautiful work. We walked around the lake several days, they enjoyed the ducklings as much as me, and took video of said ducks. There were lots of families and some were new born, others in various stages. The two miles went by quickly with chatter and lots of laughs. I went to the county fair with a couple of friends, while hubby entertained the grands with a movie and lunch. They had fun and so did their "Pa" This past weekend after they had gone home, my friend brought over a large box of fresh picked Apricots. So I made jam. I have made three batches, and still have more to do, have to get more sugar, so had to stop for the day. At the center another friend brought me some plums, so I will make a batch or two from them. Have them already and will do them on same day as rest of the Apricots. Busy, busy, but oh will it taste yummy on those toasts and english muffins come breakfast time. :-) We had a very quiet 4th and felt even more so without the grands. Never a dull moment with them!! They had fun with Ma's IPad and showed me how to work stuff, as they are always up on the latest stuff~~~~wish I was, but I do get a few things after awhile. :-) Anyway, that's what I have been up too, bingo tomorrow and next week Antique club. Taking a few days off from the senior center soon, my said grands want a lesson in pie crust making, now that's something I know a thing or two about!!!

Walks at the lake.
I got my walks in this week!! Yea, for me. The weather was very warm at the beginning of the week, but cooled a bit by today. I enjoyed them all. Got lots of pictures of the Mallard ducks with their ducklings. I love it when I see them. Just makes my day, I thought they were not to be, but they are just hatching late this year. With everything green and blooming it makes the walks even better! I think I am back, and walking alone is not bad, I did it for years before coming to the lake and volunteering at the senior center. Nice to talk to someone while walking, but I get a lot of deep thinking done while I am alone. Well, getting ready for my two granddaughters to come and stay a few days. This should be fun for them as well as for myself. They want me to show them how to make pie crusts. Stay tuned. Antique Rose

Worked in the garden today.
I worked for several hours today in the back garden. Pulling weeds, trimming plants that were over grown. I filled the large green bin, and what a feeling of accomplishment I felt!!! Because of the really rainy season, seems like every time I wanted to do something in the yard, it was too wet. Finally feel I have the upper hand!! After watering and putting everything away, I went to the local OSH and got some plants since it was a no tax weekend. I will plant most of them tomorrow. Yea, I love to garden. My first dahlia bloomed and it is a beauty, see picture above. It was a completely different type than last years. I still have some others yet to bloom, can't wait to see what they will be like. Peonies are all but gone, the rain and wind really did them end this year!!! Sweet peas have also are gone. Next year I will do a better job with them. I got some autumn sage to plant, the hummingbirds love these plants, my one has about had it, too woody and old, so this will be good. Got some more geraniums too, pink of course, my favorite color. One rhododendron and a kangaroo paw. It is a new pink color as well, the other one I had a long time ago was a yellow/gold color. Well, it seems I have made a bit of work for myself. I will let you know how it goes. I also have an Antique club meeting/installation luncheon to attend. It should be lots of fun. Antique Rose

Life and Time Marches on.
Well, I've walked three times this week, that is more than last week, I am getting there!!!!!! I made up my mind to get back in the groove, as I've fudged long enough. The weather is getting better, and I am determined to get back they way I was before my partner quit coming to walk with me. I have to rely on me, myself and I. The buck stops here, so with that said I am going to do it!!!!!!! My lab results were good, and I am thankful for that. Had worried some that it had gone to heck with not walking my usual. I saw ducklings, goslings and baby turtles on my walks this week, always makes my day to discover them. I take my camera and take pictures as I walk along the lake shore. My roses are blooming, and Dahlias are coming up nicely. I am a happy camper!! My daughter's oldest daughter has graduated from high school. The weather was quite windy and cool, sun made an appearance after it was over, guess better late than never!!! We had a lovely dinner out at a Japanese restaurant. Yum!!! The cake my daughter baked was yummy as well. Got pictures and so filed them away for future memories. Next one in two years, how fast time is going by. My grandson who is in the service is out in July, and that will be good. With the garden club having a walk on Saturday, our Antique club having their installation and estates sales every now and then, things keep me hopping. There's one tomorrow so that is three weekends in a row for that. Found some lovely things, so the hunt goes on!!!!! Hopefully will have more pictures soon. Antique Rose
